Java-E UK - Our Bargain Bin

To view items that are in our Bargain Bin, select the relevant option on the Browse Products search criteria page.

We very carefully check all of our items for the smallest of defects before we add them to our website. Only items which are in perfect condition are added to our normal website stock. Any items which don't pass our own stringent quality checks are moved from the normal website stock into the Bargain Bin section of our website stock.

Any items which are in our Bargain Bin are clearly labelled as such in the Browse Products Results page and the [Details] page for that product. We also display detailed notes explaining why the item has been placed in the Bargain Bin.

We only place the best of the best in our normal stock; everything else goes into our Bargain Bin.

Bargain Bin jewellery items should all be regarded as costume jewellery which may have some sort of fault with them.

Here are some of the reasons why we place items in our Bargain Bin:

1. White Metal:
Items which are described as "White Metal" are items which have not been tested or hallmarked - they have the resemblance of silver (or white gold or platinum) but could be made from anything. Such items might be made of silver, but they might not; you should not assume that such items are silver or any other precious metal. If you see such an item in our Bargain Bin, and you are willing to pay a little extra for the item, then we can test the item (and then hallmark it if it passes the assay tests). The additional cost for this for each item is about £5-£10 - you can email us before you order the item and request this and we'll arrange it for you.

2. Scratched Items:
During Assay testing, an item may have had a particularly large sample taken of the metal for testing purposes. Sometimes we get such items re-finished/polished, and sometimes we simply leave the items as they are and put them into our Bargain Bin. Such scratches are usually in areas of the item which are hidden from view when the item is being worn. Items which have been scratched/tested like this by the Assay Office. may be scratched, but it will usually have the full set of hallmarks.

3. Sub-Standard Items:
Some items might not come up to our high quality standards even though there might not be anything wrong with the actual item. If we don't feel an individual piece is of a high enough quality (eg slightly rough edges, or not a high quality stone) then we will put it into our bargain bin, usually without testing or hallmarking it.

Whatever the reasons for the item being in the Bargain Bin, the [Details] page for that item will show you all the reasons and will accurately explain the status of any hallmarking and all other relevant aspects of the item.

Bargain Bin jewellery items always come with the corresponding complimentary/free normal/Premier jewellery box. Generally, the bulk of the price of a Bargain Bin jewellery item consists of the raw cost of the jewellery box. Bargain Bin jewellery items DO NOT come with a certificate.
