Java-E UK - Our Designers' Rights

The people who design our products are amongst our most highly-valued and highly-skilled suppliers, and we believe that they are entitled to two main benefits, both of which are rarely granted to designers who work with/for other companies:

1. A designer deserves the right to personally keep the ownership of their design in perpetuity.
We never attempt to purchase the ownership of a design from the designer, and if we discover that one of our suppliers does not respect their designers in the same way then we will cease to do business with that supplier unless they change their policy. If a designer of one of our products has not already taken legal steps to protect their design, then we protect it for them at our own expense.

2. A designer deserves the right to get a fair royalty from every product sold which uses their design.
When we purchase an item from a supplier, we pay the supplier's designers a proportion of our retail price as a royalty, and if we discover that a supplier does not allow this then we will cease to do business with that supplier unless they change their policy.

Intellectual property rights are too often abused by companies who only have eyes for their profit-sheets. At Java-E UK, we see no reason why a good profit can't be produced while still respecting the rights of designers and suppliers.
